Tampa Bay has been one of the fastest-growing metros in the country, and the work shows it. Residential subdivisions, multifamily, and big warehouse and industrial sites are going up along the I-4 and I-75 corridors and out through Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas. If you're a contractor here, you're either chasing that growth or trying to staff up fast enough to keep up with it. Either way the back office tends to fall behind the field, and that's usually when the books stop telling you anything you can act on.

Then came the 2024 storm season. Helene and Milton hit the bay area back to back and put a wave of restoration and rebuild work in front of almost every trade, from roofing and framing to electrical and mechanical. That kind of work is good for the year, but it scrambles the books: insurance jobs, draws on a different schedule, subs you don't normally run, and a pile of new tax questions about casualty losses and disaster relief. We sorted through a lot of that with clients and wrote up what applied in our breakdown of hurricane tax relief, so the storm work doesn't turn into an April surprise.
